Have you noticed that the engine of your Ford vehicle has not been running the same as it used to? Then it may be about time you visit Western Slope Ford for an oil change! Our team has put together this brief synopsis to fill you in on the details.

Purpose

During your travels in and around Grand Junction, the engine of your Mustang, F-150, or Escape must provide the strength required to get the wheels moving. This process involves the grinding of specific components, whose friction leads to a great amount of heat being generated. If not addressed, this can lead to damage to components that are expensive to replace. To avoid this scenario, oil coats these parts to reduce the intensity of the grinding. Additionally, it will remove any dirt and grime that accumulates over time. This will eventually lead the oil to go from a golden hue to a dark brown.

Synthetic vs Conventional

In most cases, we generally recommend having your Ford's oil changed once every six months, or 7,500 miles. This can vary, so be sure to take a look at your Owner's Manual first. Once you schedule a service appointment at our location, we will introduce you to one of two options. First is synthetic, which is a blend of refined crude oil that has been infused with artificial components. This allows it to last longer and boast a higher level of efficiency, but at the cost of a higher price. Conventional is simply refined crude oil that does not boast the superior qualities of its counterpart. While this results in a less efficient fluid, it does work better on older vehicles with vintage engines.

Warning Signs

During your next trip across Route 6, you may want to keep an eye out for potential warning signs that indicate poor oil quality or quantity. For instance, your engine temperature gauge may reveal overheating in these cases. You may also detect a slight burning odor from the hood, which should be addressed as soon as possible. This will also lead to getting fewer miles per gallon on the way to Lincoln Park, as the engine does not deliver power as efficiently as it once did. Consider taking a look at our service specials to see what kind of deals we can offer you!
